Where the line is
That sentence has been on this page for a while and nothing underneath it explained what it means or what it costs. It costs a text generator — the most searched-for thing in this whole category — and we are not going to build one.
Because of who this is for. A law firm, a clinic, an operator, a university — every one of them is deciding whether a writing tool is safe to put in front of their people, and a product that produces documents from nothing answers that question for them before they ask it.
We tell universities there is no essay generator here and that this is deliberate. That claim is worth something only while it stays true, and it stops being true the moment a text generator appears under a different name because it would rank well.
So this is a page about a limit rather than a capability. It is the shortest honest summary of what this company is.
It edits what you wrote. It does not write instead of you.
Every mode takes text you have already produced and changes how it reads. Give it an empty box and it produces nothing, because there is nothing to work from. That is not a missing feature — it is the shape of the product.
Nothing is applied without you pressing something
Suggestions sit there until accepted. Ignore all of them and the document is exactly as you left it. Software that edits sentences while you are not looking is software you have to proofread against, which is more work than writing it yourself.
The professional modes are defined by what they must not touch
Legal leaves a carve-out where you put it. Medical preserves a dose and the difference between suspected and confirmed. Energy keeps a measurement exact and adds no cause to an incident report. Anything can make a sentence read better; knowing which words must not move is the harder half.
Your text is not training data
Neither of the two providers we route to trains on it. One retains nothing at all, the other deletes within thirty days, and our own copy is removed when the job finishes. Named and dated on the trust page rather than asserted here.
A great deal, as it turns out. Seventeen rewriting modes, a summariser, grammar and clarity checking, plagiarism and AI detection, translation across twelve languages, and an agent you can ask anything — including to read your draft as the person about to receive it.
The agent is the interesting edge here. It will happily draft something if you ask it to, the same as any conversation will. The difference is that it is a conversation rather than a button labelled write my essay — and that distinction is the whole of the argument, which we would rather state plainly than pretend is more absolute than it is.
It will invent a citation if asked for one, confidently and in the right format. It does not know what happened last week unless told. It agrees more readily than any real reader, which is why the instruction to push back has to be explicit.
None of that is unique to us and all of it is true of every tool in this category. Where we differ is in saying so on the page rather than in a footnote.
