Both rewrite your text. Only one is built to refuse.

QuillBot and ABCcount do the same core thing, and for most writing the difference is small. Below are the four places it is not — set out as what each product will and will not do to a document, which is the only comparison worth making.

Where the difference actually is

Every general-purpose rewriter is built to improve prose, and improvement almost always means shorter, plainer and more confident. Three of our modes are built the other way round — around what they are not allowed to change — which is a different engineering problem from making a sentence read better.

Stated as what happens to a document rather than as adjectives, because adjectives are where comparison pages stop being useful. We wrote this one, so every row below is something you can check by running the same text through both.

Legal

No dedicated legal mode. A contract clause goes through the same general paraphraser as a blog post, and the paraphraser has no view on which words carry the clause.

ABCcount

A limitation-of-liability carve-out survives the rewrite exactly where you put it. Hedged advice stays hedged. Defined terms keep their definitions.

Medical

QuillBot

No dedicated medical mode. Clinical shorthand is rewritten with no calibration for terminology, and nothing protects a dose or a diagnostic hedge.

ABCcount

Every dose, route, frequency and timeline survives. A suspected diagnosis is never written up as a confirmed one. No EHR connection, by design.

Energy

QuillBot

No equivalent. A drilling report or an incident narrative is general text as far as any general-purpose rewriter is concerned.

ABCcount

Depths, pressures, API numbers and formation names are preserved exactly — never rounded, never converted. And an incident report gains no cause the author did not write.
